Great place to get African food. They have pretty much everything, from fufu (cassava leaves) to goat meat and fish boxes. Fresh meat can be expensive compared to local supermarkets, so my family only goes there to buy specific African foods and goat meat.

I love this store so much for my many groceries i do there almost every month and i have been recommending that store to everyone asking me for african food store. But yesterday was my worst experience while shopping since i took one of my friends there to see the store as i was buying stuff for new year celebration.there is this a bit older woman who made me feel so bad, as if people were going there to take some of the things without paying, as if there were thiefs and i felt so uncomfortable in front of people at thecashier checkout. It was so disappointing. Maybe they should hire security stuff to do the job or watch the camera if people are really going to take things without paying. You can't go there and buy items and acknowledge the cashier that you don't want to exceed your budget for the day which they agreed and while selecting items, someone will just come to your chariot starting talking, removing items and your belongings from the chariot and behaving as if you are going to steal something. So stressful, shamefull, don't even bring your empty belongings maybe used from elsewhere your kids were using before getting in because you will be questioned whether you ate something belonging to the store etc. It is so sad i m writing all this because it is what i went through yesterday infront of my friend i brought there and my kids. Please change that attitude because that maybe why people don't want to shop there to avoid the embarrassment of their lives and keep their dignity because that is what gives people their identity. The rest of staff are very nice and helpful and you can find everything you need in there even though the prices are too high

This store no doubt has a lot of varieties that caters to the African Community in Ottawa. However, the owners of this shop have no problems selling expired goods. I bought a box of frozen chicken drumstick. I had to store it for it to defrost so I'd be able to cook it. Some hours later, I opened the box and discovered the entire content to be rotten. Immediately, I took the box to the store to complain. I demanded that they acknowledge that what they sold to me was rotten and apologize, I never asked for an exchange nor a refund. They refused my demand and told me it wasn't their fault. What impudence. I have read other reviews on google and most complaints comes down to selling expired/rotten goods. Especially, the comment about selling expired baby foods. That is sheer evil. This is contrary to the Consumer Protection Act of Canada. I will formally lay a complaint to Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Health Canada and Consumer Protection Ontario. I will attach pictures I took of the expired products in the store and negative reviews from Google reviews as my proof. Hope the Government helps to protect the consumers from your horrible acts.

I had a fantastic experience at the African World Market! The variety of products amazed me, from fresh produce to unique spices. The staff was friendly and helped me find everything I needed. I'll definitely be back for more of their authentic and flavorful offerings. Highly recommend!

Excellent customer service and friendly staff. Fair pricing. It has products from all over Africa. I took notice that there was a huge variety of West African products. There’s lots of free parking space. Definitely a spot you should check out if you’re looking to try something new or if you want a taste of Africa.

The store has a good variety of African food items, however, this is not all that makes a store worthy of patronage. The lightskinned man at the meat section is very rude and proud. If your ego is too big to sell meat then get out of there and allow people with good customer ethics work there. I also watched him today at the new lady working with him at the meat section. He is always derogatory when communicating with customers. He was also upset that another customer changed her mind abount buying a particular type of meat. SIR, look around you, people have their rights out here, you are not in your village where you're lord over people! Especially WOMEN!!!!!! Also today, the darker cashier lady working at the inner cashier stand with a head cover was also absolutely rude with an attitude. I gave 2 stars based on customer service. I will continue to shop here to give the store owner a chance to train her staff about the power of great customer service. If I see a positive difference before the end of 2023, I will adjust my review. If not, I will stop shopping here and spread the word. This is not the only African store in Ottawa. I will record any ill manners I notice next time.
